Types of Boiler we Install

The most common types of boilers in UK homes are gas boilers as there is already the infrastructure to carry gas to our homes. We can offer a variety of boilers and brands as we are not tied into a set manufacturer, meaning you can choose the best one for you.

The most popular types of boiler systems in the UK are:

Combi boilers - The name combi refers to the fact that these boilers can act as both a water heater and also a central heating unit.

System boilers – A system boiler receives cold water directly from the mains, heats it, and transfers it to an unvented hot water storage cylinder for storage until it is needed.

Conventional boilers - Also known as a regular boiler, conventional boiler systems are comprised of a number of parts including a boiler, heating controls, a hot water cylinder, a cold water storage cistern plus a feed, and an expansion cistern.

Electric boilers are a more eco conscious and modern alternative to traditional home boilers. Being up to 99-100% efficient, due to no heat being lost through the burning of gas.

Although a big percentage of UK homes has the infrastructure to accommodate gas boilers there are still around 2 million homes that don’t have a gas supply. An electric boiler eliminates the issue of being connected to a gas supply as well as freeing up more space as there is no need for a tank. This makes the electric boiler compact and convenient as well as giving you more flexibility with the placement as it doesn’t need to be fitted to an outside wall.

Electric boilers are usually quieter as they don’t have moving components to keep them running, easier to maintain as there isn’t as much residue build up and safer as the risk of gas or carbon monoxide leaks are eliminated.

Gas-Elec did a fantastic job installing a new gas boiler. Initially a Gas-Elec engineer came to our property to assess what heating options would be available to us and how economical each solution would be so we could make an informed choice to replace our oil heating system. Their 2 installers worked extremely hard over a weekend to fit the new combi-boiler as well as install new radiators. They were incredibly efficient, polite, tidied up after themselves and clearly took a lot of pride in their work.

Double thanks to Gas-Elec teams! Phil was extremely responsive to our initial desperation for quotation / installation of a new boiler system to allow completion on a property sale, and Sandra likewise in following through with an EICR.
